Sharing inspiring experiences as motivation to others.
Author: Betsy Joy Genon
I am a Senior High School student under Humanities and Social Sciences of St. Michael's College, Basic Education Department (Iligan). I am writing because I want to further enhance my skills and share my fruitful experiences to someone that will somehow inspire them at any aspect of their life.
The last days of my week occurred to be simple. Yes! It’s simple because just a normal thing happened.
We simply attended class as we used to do and the difference was that, this was our examination week. You know what it feels? It’s still nervous and so much pressured though we used to have exams every month because we became loaded already with all the academic works as well as home tasks. In your case, can you balance them both? By the way, I labeled myself as a “tough” woman because even a lot of circumstances, pains and trials in this life, I would not still giving space to “SURRENDER”. Do you know why? It is because there’s no reason for me to give up when there is still a way of coping those challenges. And aside, there was a very important reason why I am striving hard which is accomplishing my study to the very best just for my beloved parents and family (yes, that’s how I love them😘💕).
Going to back to our exams, it seems like I didn’t take it seriously. Not to the point that I am not doing well to it but I just found myself tired of so much study. I just study a little bit of about an hour or lesser then just a bit of scan in notes at the very moment before the exam takes place.
Well, the exam may quite easy and hard but mostly it was situational so I can still manage to answer with my own opinion. I hope I’ll still earn good scores for it. Right after the examination, since we’re just half day, we made a little preparation for the Grand Expo to be held this coming Feb. 24-25. The most challenging part again was that, we the HUMSS students were assigned to handle the over-all program were visitors from other schools were invited. And we got no choice for it but to take the risks for the good of everybody.
Hope you all guyz liked my weekly blog. I just end it here, sad to say but I just made it for requirement compliance only. Babooshh!
When my past few weeks were engaging and alike, well this week had doubled the effect. It seems like it reached my satisfaction as a student wherein I experienced a lot of things which missed on my early years in school. It brought me to extent happiness as well as challenging me on my career choice since we faced a lot of trials days past.
To start with, I want to remind you again that I am a graduating student (yeah I made this mark as a motivating factor☺️). We all know that before leaving the present time and wandering another mysterious world may seems so difficult and one must experience first the hardship of life upon passing through it.
I can say that this week was worth to share with. Imagine, we had a 3-day Immersion this week and luckily, we’re just assigned in our very own institution since I’m under the Sub-Strand of Education and we are about to have a class observation to the lower years (junior high/grade school/kindergarten) of about eight hours from 7:30-4:00. Each day, we are assigned in different areas and again, I’m lucky enough because I always have a partner for the observation while others go alone. Well, at the very start of entering the classroom, it seems like awkwardness wrapped me and because we had to do this, yeah we really entered the class with the teacher who was uninformed as well and ask her permission to do our task. I think it was like about a simple thing that would just seemingly observed and turning eyes around and feel the atmosphere of the classroom but it was not. I felt like a shadow that can be felt/seen by anyone that even I was there at left side of their back, they can’t still behave. They are even out if seats, and play like running around shouting and unlikely noise that was ear-deafening. Not mentioning the grade but I just share it because I got a lesson from it. I felt like, oh! It was the feeling of the teacher when the students were not showing respect among them. For the aspiring teachers out there, I just remind you all that teaching isn’t really an easy profession but when you made it with passion and achieved your goal in the teaching process, mind me, it’s the nicest feeling that no one can exchange of anything.
Another experienced was quite fun, since we’re assigned to juniors. The conversation with the students and teacher with a little joke could really give the class a vibe. It was like about getting happiness from the passion you had and it sounds interesting right?
The last day immersion sounds so special to me. Though they were just in the 2nd Grade, I can feel like they were really raised properly. They were so cute, as well as pretty and handsome. I can even hear them saying “teacher”. And it was warm in the heart that someday, the word they uttered was really who I am already. They even hug me and ask to take some selfies, how I really build love to those little kids. In terms of interpersonal and language, they were smart. They were even active in the class, sharing their opinions and it’s a good start as building foundation towards the children because as they grow, they could bring the teachings at the rest of their lives.
Another intimidating activity happened to us right after the immersion. It was the rappelling in our PE and I know that you guyz knew what was it. We are about to made 3 stages of rappelling but due to the hectic schedules, our teachers declared that having 2 stages would be enough. As look towards the 1st stage of rappelling I could say that it might just easy since it was just a “stair-like” the bleachers. But as sir Fajardo performed it, I take out a big “WHAT” from my mouth because I found it difficult and it was my first time. But then on, I performed as others did and we finally get through the second stage which was from the iron bars of bleachers to the ground floor of the gym. It again made my heart a countless pump again where I put myself on a classmate who had made fault on sliding downward and slipped her hand to the point that she was hanged on her right hand. But then on, I show the bravery inside me, I do the task without fear and atlas I made a safety rappel. How nice to the feeling. I hope that there’s really a beautiful spot for it (maybe I’ll visit the Sikyop soon, a tourist spot at Rogongon who owns a rappelling site).
Lastly was the celebration for the Personnel’s Day. Yes, it was different from the teacher’s day and this what made our institution unique. They always give importance to every individual who were part of their progress. What good idea they formulated, it encouraged and motivated individual to be better in their workplace at all times.
What made the event an extra special was that, we made a little surprise to our adviser, which they often called “Mondragon” maybe because of its strictness in class. But in spite of that, her “babydragons” won’t let this momentous event to pass by without any surprises. And with that, unconscious Mommy Dragon nearly brought to tears with extent happiness and surprise feeling. Though it was simple, but it makes a great sense among the students and teacher that in a journey they went through, they have kept a memory that marks on their heart.
We bind as one because of love. —-St. Luke 2019-2020!
That would be all and see you on the next chapter of my blog. Mwahh😚!
I got great days this week far. A lot of momentous event happened and it sounds so amazing and encouraging especially when we think of ourselves (with my classmates) that we are heading on the edge of a finishing line, picturing ourselves marching on the isle accompanied by the “marching song” for graduation. Exciting right? Anyway, I’m just day dreaming but let’s go back on the things we achieved already. To start with, I want to share you the highlights of my week, it will not get long so don’t be bored coz I assure you that it’s engaging.
@ SMC Laboratory
The first day of school days (referring to Monday), the school administration allow us to attend a seminar for a career motivation on the SMC Laboratory which was owned by the institution itself. It sounds cool since I, myself is still undecided and doubtful with the career I may pursue since I hadn’t fix myself yet for a final decision. I am under the sub-strand of Education and we are motivated so much when the speakers spoke out their experiences in teaching and how they go through inspiring students every single day. And it gives a mark on my mind that was transparent enough to decide for my future. It me helps a lot, I swear!
The next day of that was P.E. time and we’ve learned a lot in knot tying activity. Ever since in my life, I reached the 12th Grade but I still don’t know the many types of tying a knot. I shared it to you since it is very important to learn especially in emergency cases or any activities involving knot tying, one must expert enough to avoid hazards.
Going back on time we met.
The next thing we made was the surprise of Sir Esjie’s birthday. Yes, you may don’t know him at some point but he was our teacher on our 11th Grade and this guy teaches us not only lessons that can merely be seen on textbooks or papers but weighs more that can be brought by anyone for a lifetime.
The 4th day in school may seem so memorable and at the same time pricking-thorn feeling which I could imagine that the people I am with for about a year will soon be vanish on my eye since we don’t know how or where fate may bring us through.
Class picture of St. Luke A.Y. 2019-2020
The last thing was the capturing of “GradWAITING” (yes gradwaiting because it’s tentative, ouch!) students’ individual faces and I felt at ease at the moment that if given a chance, I will be one of the candidates of graduates in God’s own will. When we strive to be better and making things for the betterment, there’s no reason that God won’t direct your path.
………Stay tuned and expect for another week journal after this…….
Hi everyone good evening! Yes, I just came back to my weekly journal because my week seems so busy and this time is my only chance to express my feelings to you in a week that I attended my class so far.
I could say that “Yes! I got a great week this time but it seems so challenging at the point that I’m force to immerse myself on the thing which I don’t used to do and because it’s a requirement, I got no choice but to perform. Okay not to spoil you of how I went through my week, but keep in touch because I’m about to begin my story.
Last Monday, a feeling of passiveness strikes me since we just done taking the examination for the 4th quarter. Expecting that oh! We’re relaxed already and may tackle a bit for an overview of another lesson. But it was just an expectation, though we’re not having a class at the first period but next to it was indeed our teacher who’s fond of surprises in his class and expecting his students to cope up with his teaching strategy. Nerve-wracking isn’t it? What if, he established a surprise long quiz and none of us knew or aren’t ready? Then that “what if” turns to “yes it was” he really gives a long quiz covering from the beginning of his discussion until the last and if I was not mistaken, more or less, we had tackled 10 topics. It’s so scary right? And the type of his quiz was identification and enumeration where one should have enough knowledge about all the lessons to get rid of the quiz. With regards to that, I was fortunate enough that I was gifted as being observant just hearing the words of a school mate next to us where the teacher in-charge to us that moment, established a long quiz to them and that gives me a chance to scan a little while before he came in and atlas I still made my best aiming a score of one point lesser out of the items. And for me, that’s enough already since there’s nothing perfect aside from Above.
Performance Task~ HUMSS Strand Promotional Slogan
Another day, the schedule for our digital poster for the promotion of our strand bother me much most especially that I have a very little skill in editing when it comes to online. I just tried my very best to meet the very deadline of that performance task and knowing that it needs an approval to our ICT teacher before posting it on facebook, I did my part as well. Though there may be a little correction but at last, I made it and received an approval for posting (feeling blessed at that moment).
Another fresh performance we did is the aquatic lesson yesterday. I got nervous and full of fear especially that we are about to perform some survival techniques in a long time stay in the water. Honestly, I don’t know how to swim. Those even the simplest swimming style that what so they called “dog paddle” and “elementary backstroke” those were nightmares in me. I don’t really know how to perform it and even I tried so hard, I only get a muscle pain. But then, we had passed that station by the way and proceeded to the different kick style like the dolphin, flutter and the frog kick which I were able to perform anyway. The last part will be the execution of compact jump at 16 ft. deep water and a war-like feeling inside my chest where my heart continues to pump was inevitable. Good thing was that, we’re granted a life jacket, helping us to float anyway even though it was deep.
Yes, it’s hard but let me take a try!
A lot of survival techniques were taught upon us and every experience in a very cold water that caused tremble to one’s body, gives value and a sense of worthiness which one can apply in a real life situation that even storms and flood might come, will always make anyone ready for he/she was equipped with the knowledge imparted by the teacher.
I hope guys that my weekly journal continue to inspire you and gives you knowledge and guidance that somehow you may apply also upon yourselves when the same situation will be encountered.
………Stay tuned and expect for another week journal after this…….
This week may seem so tiring but worth to share since I made a lot of achievements and it sounds so great isn’t it? Well, to give you knowledge how I went through this week, I would tell you a short summary of it. Do you know that even though we’re heading to an end of the school year, my appetite in attending school is still activated. I don’t know why, just maybe because we are about to graduate this semester in God’s own will☝.
Last Monday, as I arrived in the school, I was agitated and alarmed when I knew that one of our teacher who became particular in our remarks in academics conducted an oral quiz on the section next to us which for sure he would apply on us as well. We’re not informed and it’s bad to know especially I left my notes. I initiate and seek for anyone’s note to study and he came on saying that we will perform it with open ears of a class (we thought it was individual like what he did in his first class). But then on, time comes where it’s already my turn, a true to life question that also needs a total comprehension to answer on its finest point but still I answered (very curious with the answer and asked to steal another question being thrown but he told that I made it already, what a nice feeling!).
On the other day, I’m in a bright perspective of myself wherein I made a focus on doing our research paper since we’re done asking an advice from our dear statistic teacher Sir Jim and yes, I made it successfully. I reached it then to our Immersion teacher to show her our output. I really make myself proud of it.
Business Logo–Flantea
I thought the feeling of a calvary has done but the business plan had then popped up and serves as our examination in Entrepreneurship this month but then we have no choice but to construct. Well, it’s not that heavy since we had made our business logo and presented our prototype already. Such then, we produced the chapter 1 of our business plan.
2-day examination added the crises upon us and we were told to study including the past topics (which probably vanished in our minds already) but still got a chance to study all over again to put answers on the test papers and leaving no blanks. Indeed, we made it successfully in God’s grace.
For now, we are preparing ourselves since it is Friday and we’re heading to our province at Tubaran Mandulog, Iligan City since tomorrow is a great fellowship among the congregation of “Alpha and Omega” (our district name composing 7 churches) to praise God for His goodness and mercy and keeping the Sabbath day holy. God bless and more power.
………Stay tuned and expect for another week journal after this…….
A dim dawn with a cute voice of birds heard out of the branches chirping and a little while, I opened my eyes undoubtedly. After a while, a light greeted me “good morning”. Oh! What a beautiful day that God had gave me. Wake me well, and poured with the blessing by extending my life until this moment. Knowing that it’s Monday, I prepared myself for school. Doing a little sweep on the backyard, taking a bath, eat, worship God (yes we’re worshiping God every morning and night with a hymn of praise, reading on His scripture and a pray for a great start of the day) and then go to school. I thought I’m going to be late since the distance to school is quite far when I used to walk but when there’s a jeep passing by, it would be my great blessing. Imagine, I am going to school at around 7:10-18 am and it was so terrifying especially when I get hold as late and do cleaning or any consequence our discipline coordinator may give.
Indeed, it was luck for me; I was not late and able to attend class on time. The discussion was quite fast but interesting because of the new topic introduced by our teacher and I still cope up anyway. And that day was a great day!
Oh! It was just the start; the next day was a mixture of excitement and scruple. Gosh, it was the time that we had prepared for the presentation of the prototype for our product. It was the first time we made a milk tea added with a flan on it. We were being curious about the taste, doubting if it will be appreciated or not but after the course, we present it to our Entrepreneurship teacher. And the response will be, “wow, it taste so good” (then a thorn that was pricked on my heart was suddenly removed). “Priceless feeling”, how I was motivated and inspire to make new things, though it isn’t perfect but still we made our best.
All over again, the rest of the day became normal as usual things happened but still great and worthy for the many things learned every single day. For now, we are continuing doing our research and we are already in the last chapter. I hope that you all will pray for us that somehow, we may be able to reach the extent purpose of our study and become successful in God’s grace.

This is the first post on my new blog. I’m just getting this new blog going, so stay tuned for more. Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates.
This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.
You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
What topics do you think you’ll write about?
Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
